OVM Hosts CrossRoad Alumni Retreat
The Office of Vocation & Ministry welcomed 65 CrossRoad alumni from across the United States back to campus on April 12 for a three-day retreat. CrossRoad is the OVM’s very popular summer program for high school juniors and seniors wanting to engage more deeply with their faith and with other young Orthodox Christians. Since its first session fifteen years ago, CrossRoad has expanded to two annual sessions at HCHC and, as of last year, to a third session in Chicago.
“We had almost every year represented at the retreat,” says Kyra Limberakis, Assistant Director of the OVM and Director of CrossRoad. “There were vibrant conversations, thought-provoking sessions, and time for prayer and reflection in preparation for Pascha. And we were blessed to have with us as our guest speaker Fr. Justin Matthews, the Executive Director of Reconciliation Services in Kansas City, Missouri, and former director of FOCUS North America. Fr. Justin offered three sessions that focused on an Orthodox theological exploration of reconciliation and what it means to reconcile ourselves to our neighbor and to God. What a joy it was to have so many alums back together and to get feedback that they returned home energized and inspired.”
